Rayquaza originally was opposite Stardust Dragon but then I realized the “element poketrio” worked better with the Egyptian God set (Rayquaza/Slifer the sky dragon = “sky dragon”) and Palkia/Stardust are from the most *recent* incarnation of both series (Sinnoh/5D’s) – not counting black/white since all we have are those... starters... and angry angry not-ditto-fox

other “rivalries”:
Charizard vs Blue Eyes White Dragon (quite argueably the two “poster dragon” for the series)
Giratina (origin forme) vs Blackfeather (winged) Dragon – coloration as well as those gimpy scissor-legs XD
Arceus vs Horahkty – Both are considered the “creator” deities for both franchises (Arceus, basically creator of the UNIVERSE and Horahtky, creator of light.)
Ho-oh vs Rainbow Dragon – only the “rainbow” part really... didn’t put ra since 1. Lacking in GX 2. Ra’s part of the “god” trio in yugioh...
